|As with any project that is in need of
renovation and revitalization, the landscape surrounding Kamehameha Schools Dormitories
was completely overgrown. With care given to preserving certain species of plant
material and removing of unwanted plant material, this once dark and weedy jungle was
transformed into a pleasant, useable outdoor area for the students who reside there.
The goal of Kamehameha Schools was to plant Native Hawaiian species that are
traditionally used in the Hawaiian culture, as a means to enrich the learning experience
of all students. Fragrant and colorful flowers and ferns for lei making, fruit trees
and taro for food, and native plant species were planted throughout this 1 acre project.
