| The Challenge: Making 2 different
homes on an Ohana Lot look as one. One house was recently painted a cool gray and
the other a warm yellow. Tying the two houses together through planting, walkways
and fencing was the solution. The Owners wanted a low maintenance landscape that
could provide the visual enhancement of flowers to please all of the senses. Located in upper Manoa, flowering plants are abundant in the landscape.
Azaleas, Camellias, Gingers, Impatiens, Plumerias, Puakenikeni and Gardenias are some the
plant materials which were planted as part of an intricate landscape design. Mr. and
Mrs. Yamanaka enjoy picking fruit from the Citrus Trees and Strawberry Guava Trees, and
their granddaughter enjoys the garden so much, that she takes pleasure picking the many
fruits and flowers, and bursting the seedpods of the Impatiens. |
