Dana Anne Yee, Landscape Architect, LLC
“Is landscape architecture an art or a science?” It is an art after all! This question was posed at her 1st Landscape Architecture class at the University of California at Davis. Finding a career that filled her up with all aspects of art, from the beauty of selecting just the right plants, to having the opportunity to work for dream clients, to working on rewarding community projects, to the art of designing and creating spaces to be enjoyed, has highlighted her career.
Landscape Architect, Dana Anne Yee, FASLA, has a career that spans over 30 years. Dana Anne Yee, Landscape Architect, LLC specializes in the art and science of all aspects of Landscape Architecture from the design and construction of grand commercial projects, beautiful City and County of Honolulu Parks, memorable State of Hawai‘i Parks, many interesting projects, and to her most meaningful projects, community minded projects.
The importance of each project is shown in the special care and personal attention that is dedicated to each project to create special garden spaces for the intended users. Her expertise, dedication, and knowledge in all aspects of landscape architecture design extend from the beginning to the final project and often even after the project is finished. Circulation and garden spaces are designed with just the right plants for the needs of the clients. Each plant is selected at the nurseries and working closely with the landscape contractor the landscape architect personally hand places each plant. Exemplifying her commitment to her landscape profession, she is also is a Fellow with the American Society of Landscape Architects, a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, licensed as LEED AP, a City and County of Honolulu Planner, and a Master Gardener Emeritus with the University of Hawai‘i and ISA TRAQ qualified.
This landscape architectural firm creates beautifully landscaped gardens that enhance the environment and provides enjoyment for everyone while sustainably protecting and preserving the native Hawaiian plants and culture of the islands.
The mission to keep our beautiful Hawai‘i green began the formation of the Dana Anne Yee Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation. This extends with an outreach of a talented and giving foundation board of directors and members. Carrying out our mission, we received numerous grants and generous donations to survey for invasive insect pest species on the islands of O‘ahu, Maui, Kona and Hilo on Hawai‘i Island, Kaua‘i, Lana`i, and Moloka`i. We have successfully found over 100 New State of Hawai‘i records and New Island records. We proudly donated and dedicated 3 steel insect research learning cabinets to the University of Hawai‘i Urban Garden Center to teach our keiki and kupuna how to look for invasive insect pest species. We have given many presentations and taught about invasive species at the Botanical Gardens, community events, the University of Hawai‘i, and at school events. It is with great pride that we all volunteer our time and expertise in many fields of study to further our mission to preserve and protect our precious environment to keep our Hawai‘i green and growing.
